dj support from rich medina, kev beadle, dj cash money, eavesdrop radio and kcrw. fatnice is multi talented to say the least. the avant garde mc, producer, singer, and writer grew up listening to tons of records and tapes from his aunts collections which were comprised primarily of soul and funk gems. a prolific house head, fatnice became entrenched in the boombap sounds of hiphop via the roar of melle melle rhyming the message in 1982. an avid writer of poetry fatnice found it addicting being able to combine rhymes with beats to create music.

nelistening back, ‘interlude’ will feel like the perfect opening to ‘skylax’. a jazzy encore crawls in, morphing into a skippy hip-hop instrumental with jason’s signature flourishes all over it. aptly named as it is, this is the breathing space between whatever came before in your day, and the eleven deep house gems that are to follow. speaking of, ‘the love’ will have you gripped from the first bar. it glides the listener in, then subtly drops that signature, tightly-tuned bassline of jason’s and continues onto soulful vocals from there. ‘old dayz’ touches on a bit of a nostalgic note. the spoken vox cuts harken back to 90s hip-hop joints, playing over a looped latin sample-led beat. from there, ‘rawkicks 2’ shows jason’s rough and ready sampling style in action. a seemingly simple track, but one which has that special something which guarantees to keep people on the floor moving for its duration. ‘cut b’ contrasts this nicely, being a much cleaner production with tight drum programming and synth work. that said, it still has the classic jg atmosphere we love. closing out the first half of the album, ‘definition’ slows the pace ever so slightly, with its eternal pad structure that builds up the track’s momentum into something very mellow and deep.bringing in the second half of ‘skylax’, ‘john blue’ takes things back a notch further. a deeper tune, yet one that shows off an uncharacteristically punchy bass hit from jason. ‘last night’ is a track more reminiscent of jason’s first lost cuts ep on wax classic, sounding as if it had been freshly taken off an old tape with its sample-led beat and background hiss. the last four tracks of the album see a return to the ‘mastercuts’ and ‘lovedits’ series which fans will recognize from the ‘lost cuts’ records, with ‘lovedits 7’ and ‘mastercut 5’ respectively. the former is a laid back female vocal edit with the entire suite of signature jg touches while the latter is a garage house hit more crafted for the club. ‘bb’ brings the album to a close, twisting a disco/funksample over a pallet of drums and effects for the near six-minute duration of the track.all in all, this is the perfect follow up to jason’s debut album ‘313.4.ever’, with tracks for both the club and home listening. if you happened to miss the first album back in 2012, don’t forget that now you have the chance to grab it in a special double pack with ‘skylax’ on cd!so, needless to say, this timeless record is a must purchase for all collectors and djs out there

the cellar boyz *pay me* is taken from ben cenacs timeless cozmic house ep on thug records. pay me which was recorded in 1986 is the only track from the cozmic house e.p that had available parts. the stems for deeper & deeper, seems to me & who loves you were never recorded. this was due to the fact that all of bens projects through out the 90s were tracked midi only at mix down, with only the vocals being recorded to tape! thug would never have had the opportunity to release ben cenacs cozmic house 12 inch if it had not been for simoncino. simoncino did all the a&r for the record. a gift not only for thug but any fans of ben cenacs amazing productions. with that in mind, simoncino has provided 2 remixed versions of pay me, alongside a remix from close friend nicholas!

early in 2013, los angeles-based live act pharaohs dropped their debut on esp institute, island time, along with tornado wallaces esp debut thinking allowed the idea being a simultaneous release followed by the artists remixing each other. well, here we have the 4th corner of the puzzle, a perfect set of jams for the tail end of summer. on side a, pharaohs themselves revisit ahumbo, inviting the neighborhood boys over for fatty then proceeding to bang the drum, while the flip side gives us the tornado wallace take on if it ever feels right, a beast of a track that nibbles but never really bites, a classy tension-builder, perfect for transitioning into.

the third album of depeche mode construction time again (1983) was the first one to include talented band member and arranger alan wilder to the mix. the album was recorded in john foxx s the garden studio in london and mixed in the famous hansa tonstudio in berlin, the latter being famous for its delivery of classic albums by artists like david bowie, iggy pop, nick cave and u2. experimenting with brand new instruments like the synclavier that allowed sampling to be manipulated musically, construction time again was a groundbreaking record that included industrial influences. these influences would come to full fruition on subsequent albums some great reward movlp940 and black celebration movlp947. songs like *pipeline*, *love in itself*, *shame* and *everything counts* turned out to become classic depeche material.

2014 is the 10th anniversary of the san francisco based producers 40 thieves releasing their first ep and now they come through with their debut album *the sky is yours* for leng records. it will be released on two separate gatefold double lps each containing 10 tracks.

although delivering a mysterious & scantily clad 12 inch is hardly a novel concept these days, we must confess to being more than a little excited when we heard this one! it is undercover time again, and we’re sworn to secrecy, of course… what we do know, however is that this mighty release is an absolute dancefloor sureshot! made up of two long, pitched down and utterly mesmerising workouts kicking off with itaque putant, a mid-tempo, tripped out disco number that marries elements of techno, late 80s balearia and more than a nod towards classic red zone dubs. super low subs and bags of melodic atmosphere conspire to provide a perfect dancing under the stars moment. on the flip timento is a lysergic, tribalistic epic, stitching together a series of ethnic ingredients and overlaying some seriously transcendent modern synth candy. building into the soundtrack for a full blown shamanic vision! a serious platter then, and when the music is this good, who needs more?

after having spent most of his time with house to the people voiron decided to dedicate himself to his solo project. being a fan of the braindance scene and the reflex & warp records of the early years, voiron tries to follow the footprints of his idols (afx, dopplerefekt, lfo, global gon). all these influences lead him to produce an electronic music uninhibited from zero to one milliard bpm.this is with the support of artists like photonz (one eyed jacks) and meetings with his cyber friends minimum syndicat, le matin, daxyl, glass figure - that voiron was encouraged to produce music 2 years ago. releasing his last ep on concrete music and the following one on cracki records in april, you will have difficulty avoiding him and his tb clone in a near future

the sound of disco rose out of philadelphia in the 70s before being nurtured in new york and later rising to the top of the pops. by 1979 it made its way to india, where it was blended with sitars, tablas and huge orchestras in a wildly inventive, and often boldly surreal, fusion of purab aur pachhim (east and west).

graze minerals possess a superlative lustre, which is most notably seen in diamond. such frequencies are transparent or translucent in nature, and have a high refractive index. tones with a true adamantine lustre are uncommon, with examples being cerussite and zircon. mweapon minerals display luminous bass bands, which appear to move as the specimen is rotated. such frequencies are composed of parallel fibers, which reflect sound into a direction perpendicular to their orientation, thus forming narrow bands of light. the most famous examples are fm and subtractive, but the effect may also occur in other sound banding - such aquamarine, moonstone and tourmaline. scrap minerals consist of thin transparent co-planar sheets. light reflecting from these layers give them a lustre reminiscent of pearls. such minerals possess perfect cleavage, with examples including muscovite and moss opal.

wild oats is proud to present jay daniels karmatic equations ep. this is his second release, the first being *scorpio rising* out on sound signature. although a newcomer, jay is already known for his rhythmic vigor and twangy synth leads. starting out as just a dj, jay has seamlessly made his way into production, he is a natural and already being praised by some of the best in detroit. the 5 track ep comes as double-vinyl and outfitted in a full color reverse board record sleeve and full color center labels.

jbla came into being after julian jöckel (midnightopera) and stuart argabright (ike yard, black rain, o13) performed at a party in brussels on the 5th of oct. 2012 on invitation from bernardo risquez & michael langeder (different fountains). they all had met for the first time the year before through michael kreitz from meakusma when different fountains & o13 played concerts in eupen. after staying at different fountains studio the day after the brussels event they set up a rather improvised jam session. julian played synth on a yamaha dx7, bernardo worked the low frequencies on an old eminent organ while michael contributed machine sounds and took care of the live fx engineering. stuart put together some words and brought a beat to the occasion of the jam session at the df studio. during the short euro tour with ike yard, l.i.e.s label head ron morelli and artist svengalisghost came to the paris show and were talking with stuart about the streetwalkers of belleville, specifically the sad chinese hookers out on the street. combined with news about recent foxxconn workers suicides in china and witnessing altercations close to the air bnb where he stayed. the belleville ep are two cuts from that session with remixes from ron morelli + svengalisghost and vereker, pressed on translucent vinyl.

with burn out the bar is raised to a high level - accustomed groovy bassline, nearly perfect selected vocals - smooth headbanging sound. time trip - the expectations have not been disappointed. more deeper and more bass output and an intensivly vocal. with the remastered version from on of the most sold track from paradise city the trip through the ep goes on. jump is like being huckleberry finn rafting on a dreamlike river with surreal surprises. brown sugar makes you move and onother further evidence that is a must have, deep from our hearts

luca lozano, owner of klasse recordings presents this majestic 4-track ep on optimo trax. inspired by the past but sounding the antithesis of retro. in his own words.... the optimo trax ep was born out of a time when i was listening to a lot of old bleep house and rave, early 90s uk stuff. growing up in sheffield i was lucky enough to spend some time in warp records when it was still a record store and being around this music and the people that made it must have somehow embedded itself into my psyche. listening to pirate radio stations like fantasy fm as a teenager helped shape my musical interests as they are today and i guess this ep is somehow a reflection of that education, i wanted to make a collection of music that sounded like it was related to a certain place and time and in effect confirm my own identity within its context.

snoop dogg & dam-funks album 7 days of funk is being released as a 45 box set, with a total of 16 tracks: each song on the album released on 7-inch single, backed with its instrumental version. the box set includes a bonus record with *wingz* (not available on any other format) b/w *systamatic*.

boston label get on down can always be counted on to produce high quality reissues of hip-hop gems, and of course this album is no exception. lord willin was the acclaimed breakthrough release by virginia duo clipse, featuring rappers pusha t and no malice, backed by the eccentric production of the neptunes. both mcs had past connections to the underground drug world, which influenced the gritty, hard-hitting street rap within. the album also featured guest spots from jadakiss, styles p, nore, fabolous, faith evans, and early-in-their career appearances from sean paul, kelis, and lil wayne. get on down now presents the album, fully re-mastered and re-constructed on double vinyl, after long being out of print in the format.

further collaborations are also on the horizon, with a return to making music with friend and cohort ricardo villalobos as butric with the two figures being anything but generic, it promises to be another feet twitching, brain melting escapade in butchs musical ride.

next up on magic feet is a release by dark strands. tonys first release came via the first magic feet label sampler. since then his releases have caught the attention of a number of acclaimed djs, with daniel avery citing one of tonys tracks as one of the best he had heard last year. this is tonys first full vinyl release and shows exactly what he is capable of. the title track *return of the oscillator* has had people running to the booth every time its been played from london to croatia, as well as being fully road tested at alfos by sean johnston who also provides a superb remix under his hardway bros guise. the second track *galactic* slows the pace down and is perfect for those warm up sets.

repress , forever sound is an attempt to make simple, cyclic dance music unbound by metre where melodies and basslines phase against one another like comets around a distant sun: a slow wave on a boundless sea. geist sets about to express that moment when a dancefloor stops being a mass of independent bodies and instead becomes one connected, moving spirit, while the fold pours waves of cascading synth warmth around the listener

just over a year after their debut single for throne of blood, canadian/finnish trio bohemian groove return with two more slices of gritty, technoid funk on *a musical drama*. remixes come from hieroglyphic being and posthuman.

the space lady began her odyssey on the streets of san francisco in the late 70s, playing versions of contemporary pop music an accordion and dressed flamboyantly, transmitting messages of peace and harmony. following the theft of her accordion, the space lady invested in a then-new casio keyboard, birthing an otherworldly new dimension to popular song that has captured the imaginations of the underground and its lead exponents ever since, with the likes of john maus, erol alkan and kutmah being devotees.

adding to his extensive and diverse catalog, alexi delano delivers his first release for spectral sound. my busted sh-101 is an ode to the beloved and portable synthesizer made by roland in the early 80s, not long before delano started djing. as a producer, he s earned a reputation for being a bit of a machine himself, churning out records on a wide variety of labels over the last 20 years. he holds his own in house music under his a.d.n.y. moniker, but its with tracks such as this one that show off his love for dark, weird techno that sits comfortably alongside spectrals finest.
